We are super excited to kick off SXSW with an opening party featuring none other than Norwegian star producers STARGATE. The event takes place at House of Scandinavia – our downtown Austin lounge on the night of our direct flight arrival, Thursday March 8 at 7 PM.

Following an official welcome speech by SAS CEO Rickard Gustafsson and a brief introduction of our partners, we can proudly present «One Night» with STARGATE.

What do Rihanna, Beyonce, Coldplay, Wiz Khalifa and Katy Perry all have in common? You guessed it.

STARGATE – one of the world´s premier music producers, invites to a special DJ set of hits, favorites, classics and brand-new material. The Norwegian duo has ruled pop music with 10 Billboard #1s to their name and have collaborated with the hottest artists and DJs in the game. They will play a set of rap, trap, R&B and electronic sprinkled with hits from their hall-of-fame worthy career. 

This is an open event, but travelers from our direct flight the same day will be prioritized.

The SXSW Startup Crawl is the biggest startup event of the year, and a great way to kick off SXSW, and House of Scandinavia is an official stop.

It’s time, people. “Time for what?”, you ask curiously, as if you hadn’t already heard the wind crying out its party prayer. Time for the absolute finest scandi get together at SXSW, of course. This reception combine two of the things we love the most: spreading ideas and having fun together with interesting people like yourself. Expect plenty of bevs, highly shazamable DJs from Sweden (all creatives from different companies) and a lil sumthin’ sumthin’ to appease your hunger.

Super Finland - Frozen lakes, guitar tunes and a polar bear will feature Superwood Festival style performances of Tuomo and Markus, Lone Deer Laredo and New Silver Girl. Winter swimmer Erkki – latest documentary film by Paola Suhonen – will screen continuosly in the space. The film follows a 93-year-old Erkki Makkonen as he prepares for Winter Swimming World Championships, in Siberia Russia. The film is a story about sisu – Finnish concept maybe best translated as a stoic resoluteness in the face of adversity - and lust for life and ice holes. And a little bit about women, too.

Super Finland - Frozen lakes, guitar tunes and a polar bear will also feature a special section promoting the Northern City of Oulu. There will be a performance by Justin “Nordic Thunder” Howard, who is promoting Air Guitar World Championships at the event. Air Guitar World Championships, organized annually in Oulu since 1996, is a

celebration of love, peace and showmanship. There will also be a screening of best bits of SXSW official selection feature film Heavy Trip by directors Jukka Vidgren and Juuso Laatio. Filmed partly in Oulu, where the directors originate, the film tells a story of a young man trying to lead his unknown heavy metal band to the hottest metal festival of Norway. The journey, which includes not only heavy metal but also some grave robbing, will culminate on an armed conflict between Finland and Norway.

During Super Finland - Frozen lakes, guitar tunes and a polar bear the hungry festival-goers will be fed by the  delicious latest innovation from Finland - Pulled Oats® Mini Burgers by Gold&Green.

H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will be present and open the pitch night.
